The Campfire Fund of Florida will be present on April 16th at Warrior Beer Company at 10605 Sorrento Rd, Pensacola, Florida 32507 for the Sping Pompano Showdown Weigh in to discuss our mission and goals for funding mental health resources to men in the community.
The tournament’s host Warrior Beer Company Gary Hefner has decided on a local charitable cause to donate the tournament entry fee’s money to. The Campfire Fund for Men’s Mental Health is a group of mostly musicians in the Pensacola area that lost a loved one in 2021. Elijah Stepherson was suffering silently. There were signs of everyday stressors that friends and family recalled, but nothing alarming. In November of 2021 Elijah decided to take his own life. This devastated the ones closest to him, and the music scene in the area. A few of his closest friends Ryan Goldberg and
Brett Benton decided to take action and bring awareness to the community regarding men’s mental health. Many times men’s mental health goes unnoticed, or even ignored because of the stigma that comes with men needing help. How many of us have heard “get over it”. “Boys don’t cry” “Shake it off” There are many things in life men can’t “shake off” and the founders of The Campfire Fund wanted to let men know it’s okay to talk about, and even get professional help regarding their hardships in life.
